In this tutorial we will show you to launch and connect Windows Server 2019 or Windows 10 instance on AWS Amazon Web Services. The AWS is a pioneering in cloud services known for its cloud services. AWS known for its quality services and it provides tons of options related to cloud computing. Amazon Provides the Windows 10 server. It is secure reliable and its best tool for deploying your applications as well as it is easily manageable. In this guide we will launch and connect the Windows 10 Instance.
Step – 1 : Select the service
First of all login to the console with the credentials, after entering in console. Go to services that is located at top left side then search for EC2 service, After entering in EC2, EC2 dashboard will appear.
Step – 2 : Launch Instance
After entering in EC2 dashboard , Go to Instances, as soon as Instance page is load tap on Launch Instance.
Step – 3 : Select AMI
AMI is called Amazon Machine Image, it is required to launch instance, it contains software configuration. For practicing, check the free tier box and select the Windows AMI. Here, We gonna use Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Base . It is free to use.
Tap on Next.
Step – 4 : Choose the instance type
Here user have mention the purpose of creating instance, there are different instance types available. There is multiple Instance types are available like Micro, General purpose, Compute, Memory Optimized, etc. It depends on the user usage. For Practicing choose the t2 micro in general purpose it is free, it has 1 Virtual CPU and 1 GB of RAM.
Tap on Next.
Step – 5 : Configure Instance details
Most important step because user have to fill the instance detail here. Here,User have to specify the number of instance they want, Subnet, Networks, Public IP enabling or disabling, Instance shutdown behaviors, the roles, tenancy etc. User can create the new VPC, Subnets And roles else user can select the default one. In this tutorial we choose the by default settings.
After your Configuration is done Tap on Next.
Step – 6 : Add Storage to the instance
Server needs Storage. Here on this step user have to allocate the storage to the instance. User can add additional volume to the instance. It is not mandatory to attach additional volume here only, user can also attach volume after instance launch.
In this step user have to mention the volume type , Device, Snapshot – it is a backup of your EC2, then storage requirement, the volume type. If the user wants to delete the instance after termination then check the delete on termination block else uncheck the box.
Then tap on Next.
Step – 7 : Add Tags to the Instance
Tag is a label which assign to instance as well as the volume. Each tag having the key-value pair. Key-value is defined by user. It is very useful to categorize the resource. Here user have the check the instance box and volume box for labeling.
Tap on Next.
Step – 8 : Configure Security Group
It act like firewall which control the traffic for instance. User can add multiple rules depending on their needs. For hosting the website two ports needs to open 1st is port 80 for HTTP and another is 3389 for RDP.
Here, user can create and assign one or more security groups else, choose default security group. Then go to source select anywhere it add two entries one is for ipv4 and another one is ipv6. For web servers we always do anywhere because web server is accessible from anywhere.
Step – 9 : Review your Settings
Every configuration done by user is showing here just review and launch the instance. here, user can make the changes.
Click on Launch.
Step – 10 : Selecting Key Pair
Key pair is using for the encryption and decryption of login data, select the old one if you have downloaded already else create a new key pair. For this just put the key pair name and hit the download key pair. As soon as download completed hit on launch instance then it will show you the launch status scroll down and hit View Instance.
Step – 11 : Connect to the Instances
Now, your Instance is ready. For, connecting to the instance, just tap Connect. There is a few information is giving about connection method those are Connection method, your public DNS, username or password.
Hit on Download Remote desktop file, using this we are able to download the remote file but did not get the password to access it. Remote desktop file contains DNS and the public IP.
For password tap on Get Password, it will ask us for the key pair which we have downloaded. There is a button called decrypt password just tap on it then is gives the login credentials. Copy that password.
Step – 12 : Connect with Remote desktop
Open your Downloaded Remote Desktop file that is RDP file, it looks like this:
Tap on connect after that it asks you for the password .
Insert your decrypted password here and hit OK. after that it shows you the certificate and asks for your permission . If you wanna see your certificate click on View Certificate else tap on yes. After hitting yes, it will start your server.
So here it is, your server is ready.
